Hi, I’m SHANNON YARDLEY.
Buffalo, NY
My music career began at 3 years old when I was inspired by the Disney’s Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra commercial. Whenever it appeared on the television, I would air bow the violinists and my parents decided to have me take lessons at the Suzuki School. At 6 years old I won a competition where Rachel Barton took notice and advised me to take lessons at the Music Institute of Chicago. For 3 years I took private lessons under Sang Mee Lee who helped improve my skills exponentially. At MIC I also took part in the chamber ensemble and recitals. I then was instructed by Kassie Meeks for 3 years. When I was 17, I took part in the NWI Youth Symphany Orchestra in the first violin section. I had the opportunity to go on tour in Austria and Germany with them. It was the most immersive experience playing the music where it originated. As time went on, I continued playing in local theater groups, weddings and funerals while I was in college.
